Livery Yard

Kingsland Stables offers professional stabling in large, well ventilated stables. Flooring in the stables is maintained at a comfortable and clean level on a daily basis, using good quality straw to add extra warmth and insulation for the horses.

The horses are given roughage in the form of Teff, Eragrostis and Oat Hay 3 times a day. Three meals of concentrates are fed in the morning, lunch time and evening. Owners can choose between Spurwing Horse Feed and Equifeeds, and each horse’s diet is worked out and monitored for his/her individual needs.

The horses are kept outside in paddocks for the majority of the daylight hours except during extreme heat waves or in the danger periods during the months when horse sickness is prevalent. They are groomed on a daily basis and maintained in standard show condition.

Management and grooms check each horse daily for injures or ill health, in order to ensure prompt attention and treatment can be given should it be necessary. Kingsland Stables uses the services of an expert farrier who visits the yard on a scheduled monthly basis, and is always available in the case of an emergency.

A very strict de-worming programme is followed in the yard and de-wormers are rotated to ensure that no resistance is built up.

All horses on the premises receive the following vaccinations :

Equine Influenza

every 6 months

African Horse Sickness

every 12 months

Tetanus

every 12 months

Rabies

every 12 months

Management is in constant contact with veterinary professionals in the area and are advised from time to time of additional vaccinations when necessary. In the summer months, an efficient fly and tick control programme is implemented. Horses are dipped at prescribed intervals to minimise tick, mosquito and other insect bites.
